DAP Technologies MicroFlex 2240X
Ruggedized Pocket PC (by Conrad H. Blickenstorfer)
The Microflex 2240 is the smallest and lightest in the RMT DAP Technologies lineup of rugged mobile handhelds. Built around standard Pocket PC hardware and software, the Microflex 2240 offers all the convenience and ease-of-use of a consumer Pocket PC. However, all of this comes in a nearly invulnerable case that allows operation under extreme temperatures from -22 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and even total immersion in water for as much as half an hour. Yes, if the 2240 drops into a puddle or even a brook, it'll be none the worse for wear. The device is also highly expandable and customizable via two CF card slots as the optional PowerBoot module or an Extended CF-Cap that accommodates larger accessories such as a GPS receiver. Up to 256MB of non-volatile Flash is available for data, and the powerful battery easily last a full shift and more.
While the 200 MHz version is still offered, both versions of the 2240 now come with Windows Mobile 6.0 Classic.
In March of 2007, DAP Technology merged with JLT Mobile Computers to form Roper Mobile Technology. Prior, both companies had been subsidiaries of Roper Industries, Inc.
