Update 12/13/2010: The 3240 models are now named M3240, bringing them in line with DAP's "Mxxxx" nomenclature for its lineup of handheld computers
The CE3240B and 3240BWE represent DAP Technologies' primary offering to field operatives seeking to eliminate paperwork and reduce costs while increasing security and productivity. The 3240 family merges PDA and handheld terminal functionality in one compact, lightweight device that offers superb customization possibilities via hardware modules as well as a PC Card slot and two integrated SDIO slots.
Among wireless options are HPRS, CDMA 1xRTT, WiFi, and Bluetooth. Customers can also specify GPS, 1D/2D barcode readers, or RFID.
The 3240B is also built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including a 6.5-foot drop spec, very wide operating temperature range, and an IP65 rating (IP67 optionally available as well). The ergonomic 22-key keypad allows for rapid data entry and can be ordered with backlighting.
Two models are available. The "Ethernet Edition" 3240B comes with just LAN whereas the "Wireless Edition" 3240BWE adds internal Bluetooth Class 2 and 802.11b/g WiFi.
Also available is the CE3240BW (see below), a special version built to support access control, law enforcement and ID management applications. It has a high-resolution (500 dpi) fingerprint reader and a variety of EndCap options including a Smart Card reader and magnetic stripe reader in addition to the available 1D/2D bardcode and OCR imagers, GPS, WiFi and WWAN.
